Week 5 reflection

This week we have been working on our Year 8 Leavers project. This is where we make something for Grey Main School before when we leave to go to high school. Some of my friends and I are trying to make some picnic tables so we don't have to sit on the wet grass.

We just went to this show where they were doing some Maori Hakas and games that they used to play when they didn't have any computers or TV's.  One of them was to do with clapping and the other one was like catching your opponent out with the same move. It went on for about a hour but it was really cool.

In maths I was working on 3 digit multiplication. It was easy for me to do because I learnt how to do 2 digit multiplication and then all I needed to do was just one more step. Here is my version on how to do it.


This week I finished my titanic stuff and it looks great. Here it is.

    Hi Byron

    Great to see a variety of tasks shared in your reflection Byron. It would be great if your group could make a picnic table or two, would be a great space for people to hang out at. I'm impressed with your multiplication strategy that you have used. Keep up the great work.

One fine and hot day I was going to eat lunch and then mow the lawn. But then I went all lethargic and fell on the ground. My mom was trying to talk to me but I was not responding to her. My mom went to the phone and rang the doctors and they said to go to the hospital. So she rang the hospital and they came over to our house. They finger pricked me and tried to talk to me but I still didn't respond to them. They took me to the ambulance and I got a ride in it. I felt really terrified and scared like mad when I hopped into the ambulance and my hart was beating so fast that it felt like it was going to blow up. It was not long until we got to the hospital. I am making a dest review so that I am able to check my work to make sure that it is up to date. I am doing this to make sure that my questionnaire is clear and easy to complete and to make sure that anyone will be able to do it. I need to make sure that my questions are not biased in any way and that it doesn't make the tester uncomfortable to answer. OK? Sewell Peak

Sewell Peak was a metaphoric introduction for all the year 10’s into NCEA for next year. It is saying that going through level 1,2,3 will be challenging but once you make it to the end it will all be worth it, all the pain, sweat and tears that were shed were all for a good reason. Once we started the walk we all knew what we were heading into, a steep hill with a good view at the top and we all knew that we were going to struggle going up. But I found that if you don’t focus on the pain and just look at the nature around you, you will enjoy the walk and find it more of a brisk walk than a challenging hike. At the bottom of the walk we found that the trees were really diverse and were going to different heights but as we got higher the trees started to deplete and become more shorter and than becoming shrubs and bushes.
