Every Tuesday we go to our Maori  and this time we were doing conversations. Here is mine.

This week we have been working on lots of work. From Antarctica to finding a new thing that we needed to work on in maths. It was a fun week because mos of the girls were out of the class for self defense classes so the class has been quite and calm. In maths I was working on averages. It was easy to learn because the videos made it so simple to do. Here is my DLO on how I figure it out, For the Antarctica work we had to do these activities and here are mine. It was fun doing these activities because Antarctica has been an interest of mine for a long time.

This week it has been quite busy with finishing off lots of work like maths and some Titanic work. We started a new piece of maths. It was just like last weeks but we had to choose something else to focus on. I was doing long division. Here is my DLO on how to do it. We were on assembly this week and I was chosen to tell them a piece of my titanic work. This is mine. I read out a time line from when they had sea trials to when it sank to the bottom of the ocean. 2nd April 1912 The Titanic started its sea trials to see if it was ready to go over the seas and go far distances 3rd April 1912 The Titanic arrived in Southampton after a long ride to get there 10th April 1912 9:30 - 11:30 am The passengers started arriving in Southampton to board the Titanic and find their rooms 10th April 1912 Noon The Titanic set off on its maiden voyage but no one new what was going to happen next 10th April 1912 11:40pm The Titanic started to scrape on the iceborg and sta

This week we have been working on our Year 8 Leavers project. This is where we make something for Grey Main School before when we leave to go to high school. Some of my friends and I are trying to make some picnic tables so we don't have to sit on the wet grass. We just went to this show where they were doing some Maori Hakas and games that they used to play when they didn't have any computers or TV's.  One of them was to do with clapping and the other one was like catching your opponent out with the same move. It went on for about a hour but it was really cool. In maths I was working on 3 digit multiplication. It was easy for me to do because I learnt how to do 2 digit multiplication and then all I needed to do was just one more step. Here is my version on how to do it. This week I finished my titanic stuff and it looks great. Here it is.

This week Madeline came in and we were doing stop motion animation. It took me a long time to make it and when I was finished with it it was night time. Here is mine. For it to work you have to click on it and then hold down the down button. This week has been quiet. We have been working on things that connect with the Titanic tragedy.

This week we have done a lot. We started off with testing and then we did our Athletics. In the testing we where able to do it on our Chromebooks. We wrote our Asttle writing test, reading and maths PAT tests. I think I done quite well in all my tests because this time I took my time doing them. On Wednesday we had our Athletics that took the whole day. From 2 till 6pm. It was fun because we had 30 minutes at each activity. I started at Long jump and finished at High Jump. On High jump I had the most fun because when I jumped to close to on of the side poles and knocked over the side pole and it landed on my leg and now I have a huge bruise and a lump on my foot.

In writing today we have been reading and learning about what happens when you sleep. Miss Power shared 3 links to different bits of information for us to read  and take notes from for our own writing. We discussed some key ideas and started writing down our ideas. I have only just started with my first key idea. Here it is. The Advantages of sleep. When it becomes night time everyone needs to get a good night's sleep. Because if you do sleep you won't get grumpy. If you don't sleep for a few days you will start to forget things that you need to know. After not sleeping for more than 5 day you start to hallucinate. that is why everyone needs to get a goodnight sleep.

This week has been going so fast yet we have done quite alot. We were starting a new piece of writing. We were sticking with the explanations but we are now writing on the water cycle. Here is what I have so far. Evaporation: It is when water starts to get hot and lets out all of these stem particles that leaves the water and flies away. Condensation: It is water which collects on a cold surface when warm air is in contact with it and then make the surface wet with water and stays on there until it evaporates. Precipitation: It is when the clouds get too heavy and can’t hold anything more so it makes rain, hail, sleet and snow. I have finished doing my country study and I am busy finding a a recipe to cook because we are having a shared lunch on Thursday and I am doing South Africa. Here is my presentation.

Walt: Write an Explanation In writing we were working on explanations and we allowed to write it on whatever we wanted. I wrote on how tornadoes are formed because it was a thing that I have been wondering for a very long time. I have always been interested in tornadoes and how strong they can get and how much damage they can do to buildings and landscapes. Here is my writing. Tornadoes are formed during thunderstorms. A tornado is a destructive vortex of violently rotating winds that have a look of a funnel-shaped cloud and it advances under large storms and get bigger as they go. Tornadoes are one of the most violent storms. You need warm and cool. When these two airs mix then they create a strong twirling wind that can destroy mostly everything that is in it’s way and they cannot be stopped. Tornadoes cause a wide range of damage and destruction, staying safe during one is important. Tornadoes are the cause of a lot of deaths. So if you see one and you’re outsi

This week I haven't been at school for 3 days because I had the bug that has been around but I have got somethings finished. We made our own Tie-Dye T-shirts for an Art Soiree Next Friday. This is My shirt drying off. In Maths we made 3D shapes and I made a Dodecahedron. It was hard sticking the tabs together. This is not mine. When I was making my one it got ripped and got thrown away as we were cleaning up. In writing we had to write Explanations on what ever we wanted and I wrote on How Tornadoes Are Formed. It was something I was really interested in and I was wondering how it happens for a very long time. Here is it.

As you can see I have updated the right side of my blog. We had to right about our self's and make a funny pictures and this is mine. I was one of the people that had to show people how to do it. In maths we have been doing Thursday and Friday work and on choice maths group work. For the Thursday and Friday work I am in a group and we are making a drawing of a mall and we are adding in shops because we are showing how to measure in a different way. 1 square is 5 meters.We are working on it but Here it is... This week I am most proud of is that I finished my speech and said it, everybody was interested and they loved it. Here it is... And here is what I was saying. Speech This week I found hard was finding percentages of a number. After a while I had got it but it took me along time to do it. When I understood it it was easy and I got them all right. We had to show little kids what we had been doing over the week and they showed us what they done. The child I was with had been writing about bullies and the thing they got the idea from was this video. Video In reading we made a funny trailer about a book we have been reading. This week was the best Week that I had in Term 2. This was that because I learnt a lot of things and I had my 13th birthday. This week in maths I have been working on Multiplying fractions. It was really easy and I finished activities on it and they went really quick. here is a video on how to do it. For writing I wrote a new poem called a nightmare poem. It was based on a nightmare that I have had before. Here it is. Nightmare Poem As I was walking, I suddenly heard talking. Loud whispers, Sounded like sinister sisters. In this we completed Term 2 Set 6 first because then we got our goals that we had to work on. I was looking at angles but not the easy one's. Here is my work on it. Here is more work that I done to get it right. This one was a year 7 one. I did it because it was the only other one that was there. This one was at my age and was as easy as the year 7 one but it still help. This week we started with a new poem (a conversation poem) and it was where we had to lie about being late to school. Here it is... Late again Howard What’s the excuse this time? My friend died. Which one? Harry. Yesterday you missed 2 tests. It was his funeral. Where is your homework? At home. Why? Because it’s not done. Why didn’t you do it? Because Harry does it for me. Go to athletics. This week I wasn't here for 3 days but I still done my work. This was My Revision that I done. It was quite difficult. I got there in the end but it took me along time. Activity 1 we had to find the area of a rectangle prism. It was quite hard but then I figured why I don't try multiplying them. Activity 2 was just to find the area of a rectangle. this was quite easy because I've done it before. These are the answers for both of the activities.  For availll we are doing Charlottes Web. This is what I have done so far. We done "Take a dictionary to the movies." That is when the movie gets paused and then we find the hardest word and then find it in the dictionary and find the meaning. This week we had to find the area of a rectangle and a triangle. It was easier than I expected and and I finished it quiet fast. Here are some of the questions we had to do. This is activity 1 We had to convert improper fractions to mixed numbers in our maths books. It didn't take me long to finish it but then I got a few wrong so I went back and found out the right answers. This was activity 2. We had to convert improper fractions.
